Regé-Jean Page, born in April 27, 1988 in London 1 , is a British – Zimbabwean actor . He first gained attention in the television series Roots (2016) and For the People (2018-2019) , and in 2021 gained international recognition for his role as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, in the first season of the television series Bridgerton , which has been broadcast sinceDecember 25, 2020on Netflix .
Although he was born in London, he spent his childhood in Harare, Zimbabwe , before returning to London at the age of fourteen . In an interview with Interview Magazine in 2016, Regé-Jean Page said that he travelled a lot during his childhood: “During that period, my family was quite scattered – I have family in South Africa , Australia , Sweden , Grenada and Florida – so you make frequent stops and you develop many perspectives . “
